Just before Israel launched its airstrikes on Iran, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant declared that the country is facing a rare and decisive historical moment, RKS News reports.
Speaking at a military officials’ forum, Gallant stated, “This is a defining moment in the history of the State of Israel and the history of the Jewish people.”
He emphasized that halting Iran’s nuclear program has been his top priority since taking office. Accusing Iran of being “more determined than ever” to pursue its goal of destroying Israel, Gallant warned that the country stands at a critical juncture:
“If we don’t stop them now, we may never again have the opportunity to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon that threatens our existence.”
The minister added that after more than a year and a half of confronting Iran’s proxies in the region, “we are now dealing with the head of the snake itself” – referring to a direct focus on Iran’s central leadership.
