The Kosovo Judicial Council (KJC), in an electronic meeting held on June 27, has authorized the presidents of the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, Commercial Court, and the Basic Court in Pristina to assess working conditions at the Palace of Justice. They are to consider the possibility of suspending or reducing work hours due to high temperatures.

“The presidents of the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, Commercial Court, and the Basic Court in Pristina are authorized to assess the working conditions (the situation with high temperatures) at the Palace of Justice and, depending on the assessment, to decide on the reduction of work or suspension until the situation improves,” states the decision published by “Betimi për Drejtësi.”

According to the KJC, this decision was made after receiving information and assessments regarding the continuously high temperatures at the Palace of Justice, and with the aim of protecting the health and well-being of employees. The presidents of the aforementioned courts are expected to act in accordance with this decision.

In some instances, temperatures in courtrooms and offices had reportedly reached up to 31.5 degrees Celsius (88.7 degrees Fahrenheit).
