Lamine Yamal has reportedly made two significant demands following his new contract with Barcelona, which could leave some of his teammates feeling dissatisfied.

After bursting onto the world football scene last year with both Barcelona and the Spanish national team, Yamal has already solidified his position as one of the most talented footballers globally. This prompted the La Liga giants to quickly secure his future with a new long-term contract, set to keep him at the club until 2031, when he will still be just 23 years old.

Demands for Set-Piece Responsibility

However, as Yamal enjoys his off-season break, details have emerged from his contract and the demands he has made for the upcoming season, which could stir discontent among some of his teammates. According to the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Yamal has requested the right to take both free kicks and penalties for Barcelona next season.

Currently, free kicks are usually shared between Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski, while the Polish striker is the primary choice for penalties. It is not yet known whether Barcelona has agreed for Yamal to become the main choice for both scenarios, or if he simply wishes to be considered during such situations.

Potential Teammate Dissatisfaction

Nevertheless, it is clear that such a change would not be well-received by some players on the team, especially given their successful execution of these set pieces in recent seasons. For Lamine Yamal, however, the opportunity to execute both free kicks and penalties represents an extraordinary chance to significantly boost his goal and assist tally in the coming season.
