President Vjosa Osmani today commemorated the Battle of Loxha, emphasizing that Loxha was “more than a battlefield: a symbol of resistance and unity never to return to slavery.”
A Legacy of Resistance and Sacrifice
On the 27th anniversary of the battle, President Osmani honored the pivotal confrontation in Kosovo’s fight for freedom. “Today, on the 27th anniversary of the Battle of Loxha, we remember one of the most glorious confrontations of our war for freedom. Against a merciless enemy, KLA fighters proved that the will for freedom is stronger than any war machine,” she wrote on Facebook.
Osmani highlighted Loxha’s significance beyond a mere combat zone, describing it as a “symbol of resistance and unity never to return to slavery. From there, the call for freedom spread throughout Kosovo.”
She concluded by reiterating the nation’s duty: “Today, as a free and democratic state, we have a duty to preserve the memory of the fallen and to protect the values for which they sacrificed. Freedom is their legacy! We humbly bow to the martyrs of the Battle of Loxha and all KLA martyrs. Eternal glory!”
