“As a result of a fire, around 7 hectares of wheat fields were burned. Following investigations, a male Kosovar suspect was identified and arrested. He had initially ignited some waste, and the fire spread to the wheat,” the police report stated.
The complainant estimated the financial loss at approximately €5,000. However, after being interviewed and consulted with the prosecutor, the suspect was released under regular procedure, while investigations continue.
The incident highlights the growing risk of fires in agricultural areas during the hot summer months, often exacerbated by negligence and poor waste management practices.
