Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Đurić has accused Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani of “manipulating” U.S. President Donald Trump’s words to gain attention in Washington. This comes after Osmani stated she could confirm Trump recently intervened to prevent a Serbian attack on Kosovo.

Đurić acknowledged the significance of the 2020 Washington Agreement but criticized Kosovo for allegedly failing to respect it and for “refusing to accept Trump’s approach of building peace through economic cooperation.”

“Even worse,” Đurić wrote, “Vjosa Osmani has chosen to manipulate President Trump’s words and fabricate accusations against Serbia. Unfortunately, manipulation and fabrication seem to be the only way for Osmani and Pristina to get attention in Washington today.”

He added that, “fortunately,” America’s “friends know the truth.”

Đurić affirmed Serbia’s commitment to advancing shared interests with the United States, both in the Balkans and globally, including in regions like the Middle East. He further stated that President Trump’s vision aligns with Serbia’s vision: “Serbia seeks peace through increased trade, economic growth, and regional cooperation. We hope President Trump can convince other actors in the Balkans to embrace this vision – because it is key to solving the region’s challenges.”

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić also responded to President Osmani’s claims on Saturday. Both Đurić and Vučić had previously remained silent on the same assertions from Donald Trump.
