The candidate for Speaker of the Assembly, Albulena Haxhiu, has confirmed that there will be a meeting between acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti and the leader of the Social Democratic Initiative (NISMA), Fatmir Limaj.

Speaking ahead of the 47th constitutive session of the Assembly, Haxhiu stated that both Vetëvendosje (VV) and NISMA have expressed willingness to cooperate, though no concrete agreement has been reached yet.

“Our chairman, Prime Minister Albin Kurti, will meet with Chairman Limaj. We have made it clear that both sides are willing to continue cooperation, but nothing concrete has been agreed upon so far,” Haxhiu said.

Despite this initiative, Haxhiu does not expect the Assembly to be constituted during Monday’s session, noting that the opposition has not changed its stance.

“I don’t believe there will be a breakthrough today. We’ve followed the opposition’s positions—they haven’t changed. Whoever attends the session today will vote in accordance with their constitutional responsibilities and the ruling of the Constitutional Court. Unfortunately, I don’t expect a change in the situation,” she concluded.
