Balkan policy expert Daniel Serwer has assessed the recent developments in the region, stating that Kosovo currently maintains a stable security situation.
“Kosovo is good for now,” he remarked.
US Troop Presence and KSF’s Future Role
However, Serwer, a professor at Johns Hopkins, questioned how much longer the United States would want to maintain its troop presence. Regarding the American president’s recent statement that an escalation in Kosovo was prevented, Serwer indicated that the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) would soon have additional obligations in managing security.
“There are many bigger problems in the world,” he stated for Klankosova, adding, “The KSF will one day, perhaps very soon, have great responsibilities.”
According to Serwer, while Kosovo remains a priority for international allies, the broader interests of the U.S. might influence the continued engagement of American troops in the region.
