A wildfire broke out on Friday afternoon in Pakashticë, a village in the municipality of Podujeva, engulfing a significant area of pine trees, local authorities confirmed.

The Mayor of Podujeva, Shpejtim Bulliqi, stated that both the Kosovo Fire Brigade and the Kosovo Police were actively on site, working at full capacity to contain and extinguish the fire.

“The firefighting unit, together with the Kosovo Police, are on the ground and fully engaged in localizing and extinguishing the fire,” Bulliqi said.

The mayor urged citizens to exercise maximum caution and avoid lighting fires in open areas, especially under extreme heat conditions.

“Anyone found responsible for deliberately setting fires will face legal consequences and be fined in accordance with the law,” Bulliqi warned in a post on Facebook.

Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation, and further updates are expected as firefighting efforts progress.
