KFOR Commander Enrico Barduani has stated that the NATO-led peacekeeping mission has not observed any substantial changes in the presence or deployment of Serbian armed forces near the Kosovo border, following recent statements by former U.S. President Donald Trump and Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani regarding regional security.

In a statement to Kosovo Online, Barduani confirmed that KFOR continues regular monitoring and patrols along the administrative boundary line between Kosovo and Serbia, and emphasized that all movements by Serbian forces remain subject to established protocols.

“According to my mandate, we have not observed any significant change in the presence or positioning of Serbian armed forces. Furthermore, under the existing procedures stemming from the Military-Technical Agreement signed by NATO and the Government of Serbia in 1999, Serbian forces are required to regularly inform KFOR of any deployments or operational activities near the administrative boundary, formerly known as the Ground Safety Zone,” Barduani stated.

He added that the communication and cooperation between KFOR and both sides’ military institutions remains effective and ongoing.

“As KFOR Commander, I can confirm that the cooperation is stable and continuous. I am in regular contact with security institutions in Kosovo and with the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces — General Milan Mojsilović. This helps maintain and enhance our mutual situational awareness.”

The remarks come after heightened speculation over potential escalations, following Osmani’s claim that Trump had personally intervened to prevent a Serbian military incursion into Kosovo.
