U.S. President Donald Trump’s envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, has arrived in Rafah, Gaza, to visit an aid distribution area, CNN reported.

His visit to Gaza had been previously announced on Thursday.

In a statement issued Thursday, the White House said Witkoff “will brief the president immediately following the visit to finalize a plan for food and aid distribution in the region.”

This marks his second visit to Gaza. Shortly after Trump assumed office, Witkoff became the first American official in over a decade to visit the region.

Prior to his arrival in Gaza, Witkoff met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem a day earlier.
