Large numbers of citizens gathered in the squares of Prishtina to protest against the Kosovo Specialist Chambers. The protest, announced to begin at 17:00, was organized by the War Veterans’ Organizations of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA).
Organizers strongly criticized the court, accusing it of attempting to rewrite the history of the KLA’s war. They emphasized that the protest was also supported by public figures who once played a role in the establishment of the court.
On Wednesday, the deputy head of the KLA War Veterans Organization (OVL-UÇK), Gazmend Syla, stated that all preparations had been made for a peaceful but massive protest.
It is worth recalling that in August 2015, the Assembly of Kosovo approved constitutional amendments that paved the way for the creation of the Specialist Chambers, during the time the country was governed by the PDK-LDK coalition.
