Croatian football club HNK Vukovar 1991 announced on Wednesday the immediate termination of its contract with 18-year-old Serbian goalkeeper Srdan Nedić, after it was discovered that he had followed an Instagram page promoting nationalist and Chetnik ideology.

The account in question, named “Chetnici 1941”, is known for sharing content such as “Kosovo is Serbia” and glorifying historical figures like Draža Mihailović, the leader of the Chetnik movement during World War II.

In an official statement, the club emphasized that the goalkeeper’s actions are in direct conflict with the club’s values, adding that “such behavior is unacceptable,” especially considering Vukovar’s sensitive history with such symbols.

Nedić was expected to make his first-team debut on Friday in a match against Dinamo Zagreb, due to an injury to first-choice goalkeeper Antonio Daković. However, following this incident, Nedić will no longer be part of the team.
