Animal Smuggling Uncovered on Kosovo-Serbia Border – Border Police Halt Two Cases in Dumnicë, Podujeva

Kosovo’s Border Police have uncovered and stopped two separate cases of animal smuggling in the border area with Serbia, specifically in the village of Dumnicë, Podujeva, on August 8, 2025, at around 08:00.

According to a Facebook statement by the Police, the operation was part of the “Prevention 2025” Operational Plan, during which patrol units stopped a tractor with a trailer and another vehicle. Upon inspection, authorities confiscated 810 live chickens and five small livestock animals.

The two suspects, both Kosovo citizens, were arrested and questioned in the presence of competent authorities, but later released under regular procedure.

They are under investigation for the criminal offenses of “unauthorized crossing of the state border” and “smuggling of goods.”
