European leaders belonging to the so-called “coalition of the willing” are expected to hold a virtual conference on Sunday, ahead of important talks that U.S. President Donald Trump will have next week with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The coalition, co-led by British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, aims to unite countries in support of a peace agreement in Ukraine.

At the top of Sunday’s agenda is securing a concrete commitment from Trump on a security guarantee, which would serve as a strong assurance in any peacekeeping agreement between Russia and Ukraine.

European leaders have expressed optimism following recent signals from the U.S. president on this issue, emphasizing that American military power would act as a deterrent to any further advances by Vladimir Putin.
