The Municipality of Prishtina, in coordination with the Kosovo Police, has taken action to prevent intercity buses to Podujevë from bypassing the official station and returning via Xhamia e Llapit.
Yesterday, the municipality reaffirmed its commitment to implement a previously agreed intercity bus circulation plan, which includes routes from Podujevë.
“This agreement was not unilateral but the result of a broad multilateral process involving the Municipality of Prishtina, the Municipality of Podujevë, the Ministry of Environmental and Spatial Planning, and the Transport Operators Association. Recent reports indicating that some Podujevë operators plan to bypass the official Prishtina Bus Station and stop at Xhamia e Llapit are concerning and constitute a clear violation of municipal rules and the mutual agreement,” the municipality stated.
The municipality emphasized that unauthorized stops will not be permitted.
“We will take all necessary legal and administrative measures to ensure that all intercity buses, without exception, stop at the official Prishtina Bus Station for passenger pick-up and drop-off. Unauthorized stops in the city center pose risks to traffic safety, public order, and urban transport planning. The city center cannot accommodate intercity transport due to urban development dynamics, increased vehicle flow, and the need for sustainable public space management,” the statement added.
