U.S. President Donald Trump has shared details with European leaders about his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.

Trump stated that Russia is prepared to accept security guarantees for Ukraine, but noted that “possible territorial exchanges” will also be part of the discussions.

Following his summit with Putin, Trump said he believes peace is “achievable.”

“In a significant step,” he explained, “Putin agreed that Russia would accept security guarantees for Ukraine.”

He added that leaders at the meeting will review “who will do what, essentially” regarding Ukraine’s future security framework.

Expressing optimism, Trump said he believes the group could reach an agreement that would prevent further aggression against Ukraine:

“In fact, I don’t think there will be [any aggression]. I actually believe it’s largely overblown.”

Trump emphasized that European nations would bear “a large share of the burden,” while the U.S. would remain engaged:
“We will help them,” he affirmed.

The talks will also consider “possible territorial exchanges,” Trump confirmed.
