The U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Kosovo, Anu Prattipati, held a meeting today with Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti at the Government building in Prishtina.

Following the meeting, Prattipati expressed concern over reports that some Serbian parties might be excluded from the upcoming October local elections. She underlined that such developments could undermine the democratic process in the country.

We discussed with the acting Prime Minister about actions that we understand are being considered to exclude certain political parties from participating in the upcoming local elections. To be clear, we believe all citizens of Kosovo must have the full opportunity to elect their representatives. It is very important that Kosovo Serbs are included in this process,” Prattipati stated.

The U.S. envoy emphasized that inclusive elections are vital for Kosovo’s democracy and stability, and urged the government to ensure that all communities can freely participate.
