The Student List will continue dialogue on Kosovo and review the implementation of the 2013 Brussels Agreement on the normalisation of relations between Serbia and Kosovo, signed under the mediation of the European Union. This was stated by Ilija Srdanović, the list’s lead candidate in the snap parliamentary elections held on October 25.
In an interview with Radio Free Europe’s (RFE/RL) Uvid programme, Srdanović said the new government would respect international agreements signed by Aleksandar Vučić’s government.
Asked whether this meant continuing the dialogue and fully implementing the agreements, Srdanović said his movement “would remain open to talks,” with the aim of resolving issues of interest to citizens and the international community.
However, he stressed that agreements reached by Serbian officials could be reviewed to assess whether they were compatible with Serbia’s Constitution.
Regarding the possibility of direct talks with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Srdanović said that “decisions on this matter will be made after the formation of the new government.”
He did not give a definitive answer on whether the new government would be willing to extradite Milan Radoičić to Kosovo, stating that “such matters will be handled in accordance with Serbia’s legal procedures.”
Srdanović is the lead candidate of the Student List, which was formed on the basis of decisions made by faculty plenums across Serbia. The movement emerged from two years of protests against corruption and in support of the rule of law, initially aiming to operate as an organisation without a single leader.
He described the continuation of dialogue on Kosovo as an essential part of the students’ agenda, while emphasising that their positions on the issue would be based on Serbia’s Constitution.
