The Agency for Information and Privacy (AIP) has confiscated unauthorized equipment from a vehicle in North Mitrovica, following a police stop on September 5, 2025, on Knjaz Milos Street.

The seized items included:

  • Two professional recording cameras
  • A DVR device for video data storage
  • A monitor for live footage display

The vehicle, registered with foreign license plates, was inspected by the AIP to assess the legality of personal data processing conducted with the equipment.

According to the AIP, the devices were used for processing personal data without legal authorization, violating the principles and provisions of the Law on Personal Data Protection. The agency emphasized that any surveillance using cameras without a legal basis constitutes an unlawful act subject to penalties.

“Each observation conducted without legal justification and without meeting the criteria defined in the law constitutes a legal violation and is punishable,” the AIP stated.

The Regional Directorate in North Mitrovica had initially confiscated the vehicle, which also contained GPRS devices, highlighting the seriousness of the breach.
