On September 17, 1998, in Prishtina, Xhavit Haziri, a national hero of Kosovo, was secretly kidnapped by the occupying Serbian police and disappeared without a trace.

Haziri was an intellectual, activist, and skilled organizer, deeply devoted to the cause of national liberation and unity. From his early youth, he participated in illegal organizations fighting for Kosovo’s freedom, eventually becoming one of the most respected leaders within these movements.

His patriotic activities peaked from 1985 onward, continuing until he was abducted by Serbian UDB criminals. Haziri played a key role in boosting resistance against occupiers and organizing uprisings during this period.

In recognition of his contributions, Xhavit Haziri was declared a Hero of Kosovo on November 26, 2010, by Jakup Krasniqi, former Acting President of Kosovo. Today, his legacy is immortalized in bronze, standing as a guardian of Kosovo’s freedom.
