Abdi Baleta, former Ambassador of Albania to the United Nations and a prominent figure in Albanian diplomacy, politics, and justice, has passed away at the age of 84.
His family announced the news through a heartfelt statement, honoring his life and legacy as a devoted man to his family and country.
“For many, he was a diplomat, judge, politician, a strong voice for the nation. For us, he was a simple and just man, a husband, father, and grandfather who taught us by example. Purity, dignity, and strength of character were his defining traits,” the family’s statement read.
Abdi Baleta held important positions during key periods for the Albanian state, and his contributions on the international stage and in defending national interests have been remembered with respect by contemporaries and institutions alike.
His funeral will take place on Saturday, September 20, 2025, beginning from Alba 2000 Funeral Home on Rruga e Durrësit at 12:00 PM, with the ceremony held in Tufinë.
The family will receive condolences at Alba 2000 Funeral Home on the following days: Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
In their message, his wife Flutra, daughters Teuta and Lindita, son-in-law Përparimi, granddaughter Anda, and grandson Agzimi concluded:
“May his memory be blessed for all of us who loved him. May your soul shine brightly, dad!”
