NATO spokesperson Alison Hart confirmed that Russian fighter jets entered Estonian airspace. According to her, at least three Russian planes were intercepted by NATO forces.
“Earlier today, Russian aircraft violated Estonian airspace. NATO responded immediately and prevented the Russian planes. This is another example of Russia’s reckless behavior and NATO’s ability to respond,” Hart said in a media statement.
According to the Estonian Defence Forces, the Russian jets were intercepted by Italian forces based in Ämari, Estonia, as part of an air defense mission over the Baltic Sea.
