The Kremlin responded on Wednesday to a comment by US President Donald Trump, who described Russia as a “paper tiger.”
According to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, Russian President Vladimir Putin appreciates the efforts of his American counterpart to resolve the war in Ukraine.
Peskov said that Russia “is gold, not a tiger,” adding, “But there is no such thing as paper gold,” reports Reuters.
Trump had stated on Tuesday that he believes Ukraine can regain all territory captured by Russia and that Kyiv must act now, arguing that Moscow is facing major economic challenges.
His comments marked a clear rhetorical shift compared to his previous public positions.
Responding to Trump in a radio interview, Peskov said that the Russian military is advancing in Ukraine and that the dynamics on the front line are clear.
