Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, speaking at the United Nations, stated that Russia has no intention of attacking Europe or NATO countries, but warned that any aggression against Russia “will be met with a firm response.”

These comments come amid unauthorized flights in NATO airspace, suspected to be linked to Russia, which have raised alarms across Europe. Tensions escalated after NATO jets shot down drones over Poland and Estonia reported alleged airspace violations by Russian warplanes.

Lavrov denied the accusations that Russian aircraft entered Estonian airspace and insisted that the drones had no intent to target Poland. According to Moscow and its ally Belarus, the drones were diverted off course due to signal interference from Ukraine.

“Russia has never had, and has no such intention, to attack European or NATO countries,” Lavrov said, adding that any act of aggression against Russia will have serious consequences.
