Two people were killed and at least 12 others injured after rival gunmen opened fire on each other in a crowded nightlife district in downtown Montgomery, the capital of Alabama, on Saturday night.
A woman was among the victims killed, and at least two of the injured were children — one of whom suffered life-threatening injuries, Montgomery Police Department (MPD) Chief James Graboys told the Montgomery Advertiser, according to the New York Post.
Police were called around 11:30 p.m. (local time) for what Graboys described as a “mass shooting.”
“The shooting began when a fight broke out between two rival groups around 11:30 p.m. in downtown Montgomery,” Graboys said.
