Kosovo’s caretaker government has approved a decision to extend electricity bill subsidies for citizens until March 2026, the caretaker Minister of Finance, Hekuran Murati, announced during a press conference held today in Prishtina.
“As you know, two years ago the program was in a pilot phase, while last year it was fully implemented, benefiting over 80,000 families. This year, the same program will continue,” Murati said, adding that the subsidies will cover the period from October 2025 to March 2026, focusing on the winter months when energy consumption is higher.
According to Murati, the aim of this measure is to ease the financial burden on vulnerable families and to ensure greater coverage during the cold season.
During the same conference, the minister also discussed mobility scholarships for students from public universities and private colleges — a key commitment of Kurti’s third government.
“The mobility scholarship supports students from low-income families. The amount depends on the distance between their residence and the university — the farther they live, the higher the financial support,” Murati explained, noting that a detailed information session for students will be held in the coming days.
Murati also announced that the government has allocated €1 million for food aid packages for families in need and for social assistance beneficiaries, as part of the Economic Recovery Package (point 3.4).
Additionally, alongside the mobility scholarship, the government has decided to grant €100 to all students from both public and private institutions across Kosovo, helping them with the start of the new academic year.
