President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani delivered a heartfelt speech after receiving the Women, Peace, and Security Award from the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Ljubljana.
In her remarks, she expressed gratitude on behalf of the people of Kosovo — and especially, she said, on behalf of the “extraordinary women and girls” of the country.
“Thank you on behalf of the people of Kosovo, and especially on behalf of our extraordinary women and girls,” Osmani said.
“It is a great honor to address this Assembly, just a few months after I had the privilege to do so in Ohio — and this time, a little closer to home, in beautiful Ljubljana. Thank you, Mr. President, for your hospitality.”
“It is above all a profound honor to receive this award, which I accept with humility on behalf of the people of the Republic of Kosovo — it means a great deal,” she added.
“Because the path to peace in Kosovo was achieved by both men and women. They faced struggle with peace and equality, at a time when few in the world even knew we existed. Therefore, I dedicate this award to them,” President Osmani concluded.
