President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received the “Women for Peace and Security” Award from the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Ljubljana.
In her speech, President Osmani described the award as a profound honor — one she accepted on behalf of the people of Kosovo, especially the women who, as she said, “led peaceful resistance, fought for freedom, and built peace.”
Osmani emphasized that “without women, there can be no lasting peace, sustainable security, or true democracy.” She recalled NATO’s decisive role in Kosovo’s liberation, describing the Alliance as “not a fortress of force, but a symbol of peace and a force for good.”
She reaffirmed Kosovo’s commitment to implementing the Women, Peace, and Security agenda, highlighting the annual International Forum in Pristina and the establishment of the Regional Center of Excellence dedicated to this cause.
Osmani also called for unity among democratic nations against autocrats and dictators, stating:
“Without women at the table, peace is not sustainable — and when women are included, peace comes faster and lasts longer.”
“This award will stay in the Office of the President, but it will inspire an entire nation every single day,” she concluded, expressing gratitude to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and all allies for their continued support of Kosovo.
