Valmir Elezi, spokesperson for the Central Election Commission (CEC), announced that on Sunday evening, the counting of votes for mayoral candidates and political entities in the Municipal Assembly elections was officially completed.

He clarified that the results currently being referenced by the media are not from the process that began on Monday, October 13, at the Municipal Counting Centers (QKNs), but rather preliminary results from polling stations.

Elezi also stated that a new section will soon appear on the results platform, where data from the Municipal Counting Centers will be published, including votes for candidates for Municipal Assemblies.

His statement reads:

“A clarification…
On Sunday evening, in 2,571 regular polling stations, the counting of votes for mayoral candidates and political entities from the Municipal Assembly elections was completed.
Preliminary results from this counting were published on the results platform Sunday night. Meanwhile, minor updates may occur from polling stations where data was missing.

The results currently cited by the media are not from the process that began Monday (October 13) in the Municipal Counting Centers but are preliminary results from polling stations.

Soon, on the results platform, a new section will be displayed, presenting data from the QKNs, which will include:
– Results for Mayoral Candidates;
– Results for Political Entities in the Municipal Assemblies; and
Votes for candidates for members of the Municipal Assemblies.

As we have clarified several times, in addition to counting votes for Municipal Assembly candidates, the QKNs also verify the results based on forms filled out at polling stations after the ballot count, as regulated by the CEC’s Electoral Regulation for the Municipal Counting Centers.”
