During a virtual discussion, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama was asked whether he envisions leaving his political duties in the near future, despite his strong commitment to his role.

Rama described politics as a difficult journey filled with ups and downs, emphasizing that leaders often feel alone when making major decisions and facing their consequences.

“This is a story of climbing, descending, slipping. At certain moments, you feel overwhelmed, there’s a lot of pressure, stress, and even physical pain, because when you reach the top, you’re alone. And although you’re not physically alone—you may have people close to you—when a decision must be made, you face it alone, because you will bear the consequences of the surprises that the country brings,” Rama said.

He stressed the importance of knowing when to say ‘no’, even if it means facing dissatisfaction or negative reactions from others:

“For you, a decision may seem small, but for someone with a personal problem, it’s a very important moment in their life. You must know when to say no. And when you do, you naturally take on the negative energy of those who do not understand your no… At times, you might feel like giving up, thinking the issue is superficial, but it’s an accumulation. Yet when you realize it’s insistent, that’s when you understand the fire has ended.”
