Acting Finance Minister Hekuran Murati spoke about the lack of votes that prevented the formation of Kosovo’s new government, proposed by acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

Murati said that Kurti had challenged the opposition with a message: “test me”, referring to previous accusations that Kurti was stalling the Assembly.

“Ironically, those who were stalling the Assembly accused Prime Minister Kurti and Lëvizja Vetëvendosje of dragging out the process because, according to them, they don’t have the numbers and want to prolong it indefinitely,” Murati told reporters from VoxKosova.

He emphasized the importance of distinguishing between two phases of the political process: the convening of the Assembly and the formation of the Government.

“If you’ve been paying attention, I have consistently warned and said that we need to separate these two processes. One is the Assembly process, for which all parliamentary parties should vote because it is the duty of all deputies to convene the Assembly. That was the first phase,” Murati explained.

According to him, the difficulty in forming the government is not about a lack of legitimacy, but about the absence of a clear parliamentary majority for the proposed cabinet.
