The Chairman of the Private Sector Workers’ Union, Jusuf Azemi, spoke after a meeting with the Acting Minister of Finance, Labor, and Transfers, Hekuran Murati.
Azemi stated that their initial demand was for the minimum wage in the private sector to be 600 euros. However, he explained that it was agreed that starting from January next year, the minimum wage will be set at 500 euros.
“The minimum wage was discussed. We requested that the minimum wage in the private sector be 600 euros. I observed that the competent authorities or the acting government assessed that this wage should be 500 euros, and I asked when they plan to implement it. According to the minister’s statement, the minimum wage of 500 euros will start to be implemented in January, but our proposal for 600 euros was not dismissed. All parties present agreed that the minimum wage will be 500 euros and will start implementation in January,” Azemi said after the meeting.
