High Court Judge Ksenija Marić has once again become the target of state-backed harassment, this time for daring to rule according to the law rather than the political whims of Aleksandar Vučić. Following her decision to accept the appeal of lawyer Vladimir Štimac and revoke his detention, regime-aligned media launched a coordinated campaign of threats, insults, and public intimidation.
Students at the FPN blockade condemned the attacks, describing them as a “brutal, orchestrated lynching” of a judge who dares to uphold justice in Serbia.
“Judge Marić is under siege by Vučić’s media machine and organized bot networks. Calls for violence, threats to her life, and even suggestions of physical attacks are circulating openly on social media—all sanctioned by a government that treats the judiciary as its playground,” the students stated.
This is far from an isolated incident. Previously, Marić was targeted for acquitting students persecuted by state-backed proceedings. Then, too, she received death threats, showing a clear pattern: under Vučić, judges who defy political pressure are treated as enemies of the state.
“An independent judiciary is a pillar of every free country. Here in Serbia, under Vučić, it is under constant attack. If tabloids and bots decide who is guilty, no one is safe,” the students warned.
Vladimir Štimac was released today after appearing before the High Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade. He faces charges of allegedly calling for a violent change to the constitutional order on November 2, 2025. Štimac denies the allegations.
The attacks on Judge Marić are emblematic of a regime that weaponizes media to intimidate, manipulate, and control the judiciary, demonstrating that in Vučić’s Serbia, law has no power—only fear and propaganda do.
