The Head of the EU Office in Belgrade, Andreas von Beckerath, today presented Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić with the Progress Report document, Rks News reports.
At a press conference, the European official referenced Kosovo and the dialogue process aimed at normalizing relations with Serbia. Beckerath called for the full implementation of agreements reached in 2023.
“Constructive engagement in dialogue under the EU’s patronage is essential. Kosovo and Serbia must fully implement the obligations arising from the normalization agreement and its implementation annexes from 2023, as well as previous agreements. It is crucial that this agreement is executed, as it will ensure a stable and peaceful environment for regional stability and trust,” he stated.
The EU official also stressed that Serbia must ensure accountability for the events in northern Kosovo in the fall of 2023, specifically the Banjskë attack carried out by Milan Radojičić and his group.
Vučić’s response indicated clear reluctance to comply with the EU’s demand for accountability regarding the Banjskë attack.
In response, Vučić declared that he expects the EU to “influence the fact that all those responsible for events from 2008 until the end of 2025, in which Serbs and others were killed, injured, or arbitrarily arrested, will finally face justice and that justice will be served.”
The statement highlights Vučić’s continued deflection of responsibility and unwillingness to take direct action against perpetrators, raising concerns about Serbia’s commitment to regional justice and rule of law.
