The Ambassador of Albania to Kosovo, Petrit Malaj, emphasized the close ties between Albania and Kosovo during the ceremony marking Albania’s Independence Day.
He expressed that he feels like an “older brother” to Kosovo and highlighted the importance of mutual cooperation between the two countries.
“113 years ago, Ismail Qemali raised the national flag, and these men declared to the world with a strong voice that Albania was independent. This was not just a statement, but a symphony of courage and hope. As I speak today from this hall, I do not feel like an ambassador, but like an older brother to Kosovo, welcomed at a large table. Our cooperation has intensified in every field, especially in security, and we are open for trade. Kosovo is the largest investor in Albania. We aim to increase local twinning initiatives. I feel the pulse of a vital nation that has fought for its freedom for many years,” said Malaj.
Malaj also mentioned former KLA (UÇK) fighters who are currently on trial in The Hague.
