Altin Krasniqi, the son of Jakup Krasniqi, has called for unity and continued efforts to seek justice following the verdict issued by the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague against four former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA).
Addressing protesters in Prishtina, Krasniqi said the verdict does not affect only four individuals but, in his view, a broader part of the history of the people of Kosovo.
“I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your continued support. I stand before you not only as the son of a man facing this injustice, but as the son of this people,” he said.
Krasniqi emphasized that, in his view, the KLA’s war was a struggle for freedom and dignity.
“What happened in The Hague is not a case concerning four individuals. This verdict affects a great history; it affects the sacrifice of every fallen fighter, every veteran, every political prisoner, every missing person, and every child who never had the chance to experience a free Kosovo,” he said.
He said they would not surrender and would continue seeking justice.
“Today, we will not surrender. If we surrender today, the future will judge us as well. Our answer will be clear: we did not surrender. We will continue to seek justice,” Krasniqi said.
At the end of his address, he called on Albanians and political parties to set aside their political differences and unite.
