In a heartfelt message dedicated to Kosovo’s diaspora, the leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Ramush Haradinaj, emphasized the enduring importance of the country’s emigrant community, acknowledging their historic contributions and ongoing role in shaping Kosovo’s future.

Writing on Facebook, Haradinaj stressed that Kosovo continues to rely on its diaspora, just as the diaspora has kept Kosovo “alive in their hearts” for generations. He highlighted that the voice, trust, and engagement of Kosovars abroad remain essential for the country’s progress.

Haradinaj reflected on what he described as a century-long journey of migration, marked not only by economic hardship but also by national sacrifice. He invoked memories of early generations living in cramped rooms across Europe, driven by necessity yet bound emotionally to their homeland.

According to Haradinaj, the diaspora played a decisive role during Kosovo’s path to freedom, with many leaving the workplace for the mountain paths of war, contributing directly to the liberation effort. He honored the fighters, martyrs, and heroes whose sacrifices are deeply rooted in the collective memory of the nation.

The AAK leader described the diaspora’s story as an intergenerational journey—from grandfathers to fathers, sons, and now grandchildren who continue to inherit a profound sense of love for Kosovo.

Kosova needs you, just as you have kept Kosovo alive in your hearts,” Haradinaj wrote, expressing gratitude to all generations who preserved the language, traditions, and emotional bond with the homeland. He concluded by underscoring that every national step forward is made possible “thanks to you.”
