The constitutive session of the Municipal Assembly of North Mitrovica, originally scheduled for 5 December, appears unlikely to take place due to a decision by the Ministry of Administration of Local Government (MAPL).

According to a notice from the elected mayor Milan Radojević, the elected councillors were to gather to form a verification commission and perform the ceremonial oath of office for both councillors and the mayor.

However, sources reported that MAPL refused to allow the session, arguing that the documentation did not mention the Republic of Kosovo anywhere.

Radojević’s invitation read:

I invite you to participate, on 5 December 2025, as an elected councillor, in the constitutive (ceremonial) session of the newly convened Municipal Assembly of North Mitrovica, which will be held in the Assembly Hall, starting at 11:00. Proposed agenda: Formation of the Verification Commission for validating councillors’ mandates, ceremonial oath of elected councillors, ceremonial oath of the elected mayor.

The letter does not mention or include any symbols of the Republic of Kosovo.

In the local elections held on 12 October 2025, Milan Radojević from the Serbian List won the mayoral mandate of North Mitrovica, a municipality previously led by Vetëvendosje for nearly two years.
