The Prishtina Police Directorate has announced that it has started issuing traffic fines through monitoring via security cameras installed on the city’s streets.
The announcement states that the system has been activated to enhance public safety on city roads and to detect various traffic violations.
“Through these cameras, real-time identification of traffic offenses will be possible, such as speeding, ignoring traffic lights, stopping in prohibited areas, and other violations according to the Law on Road Traffic Rules,” the announcement reads.
Once identified, fines will be sent to the offenders’ postal addresses.
The Kosovo Police emphasized that the use of cameras is an important step toward modernizing traffic management, aiming to increase road safety for citizens, and appealed to all road users to respect traffic rules, noting that the primary goal of the system is prevention, public safety, and the protection of human life.
