Former MP Vasfije Krasniqi shared an emotional message on her Facebook account.
Known as the woman who publicly spoke out about the horrors she endured from sexual violence during the Kosovo war, Vasfije has a clear message for everyone: she does not want a traditional funeral or public viewings on the day she passes away.
“I don’t want photos on social media, dramatic posts, family interviews, or any ‘clickbait’ using my name. If you haven’t been part of my life, you don’t need to be part of my memory either,” she wrote.
Her full post reads:
*”One day, when I am no longer here,
I don’t want a traditional funeral. I don’t want viewings. I don’t want visits, condolences, lines of people, or ceremonies done out of custom rather than heart.
I want cremation, and only a small memorial with fewer than 10 people — the people who truly were close to me in life, not those who remember me only when it is convenient.
I don’t want photos on social media, dramatic posts, family interviews, or any ‘clickbait’ using my name.
If you haven’t been part of my life, you don’t need to be part of my memory either.”*
