Kosovo Police Warns of Fake Emails: Documents Are Forged, Not from KP

The Kosovo Police (KP) issued an official statement, alerting the public to the circulation of fake emails being sent to various addresses in the country. These emails, presented as if issued by high-ranking KP officials and other local and international institutions, carry the title “Court Summons” and include allegedly official case numbers.

KP clarifies that these documents are neither official nor produced by the Kosovo Police. They are outright forgeries, created for fraudulent purposes, falsely referencing institutions such as the Kosovo Cybersecurity Agency, the FBI, the National Cybercrime Police, and INTERPOL.

The Kosovo Police (KP) informs the public regarding the circulation and dissemination of false/unofficial information via emails, allegedly belonging to the Kosovo Police and various organizations, and claimed to be issued by the General Director of the Kosovo Police. KP clarifies that:

These emails, allegedly sent by high-ranking KP officials and labeled as “COURT SUMMONS” with referenced case numbers, mentioning in a false manner institutions such as the Kosovo Cybersecurity Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the National Cybercrime Police, and the International Criminal Police Organization, are not official documents of the Kosovo Police, nor issued by senior KP officials. They are forged emails/documents created for specific fraudulent purposes.

As a law enforcement institution, the Kosovo Police, in coordination with judicial authorities, is conducting intensive investigations, engaging competent police units to examine, verify, and identify the perpetrators of this criminal act.

The Kosovo Police also urges citizens not to fall victim to such misinformation/fraud. Anyone receiving such an email/document is asked to forward it to the official KP address: [email protected] for proper handling and further action.
