The Central Election Commission (CEC) has announced that between 26 and 30 November, its electronic platform received around 24,500 applications for registration to vote from abroad, marking one of the highest engagement levels from the diaspora in recent electoral cycles.

According to the CEC, over 14,600 applications have been approved, while around 3,500 have been rejected, and approximately 6,400 remain under evaluation.

CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi stated that the majority of approved applicants have opted to vote by mail. More than 10,500 voters will send their ballot packages to designated postal boxes outside Kosovo, while over 500 others will send their ballots directly to the CEC’s postal box in Kosovo. In addition, more than 3,500 citizens have registered to vote in person at Kosovo’s diplomatic missions abroad.

Elezi emphasized that the registration process is not exclusionary. The CEC, he said, personally notifies rejected applicants about the reasons for rejection and encourages them to reapply by submitting the necessary documents in accordance with the CEC’s guidelines. Reapplication remains possible throughout the entire registration period.

The deadline for out-of-country voter registration is 6 December.
