President Donald Trump shared a post on his social media platform Truth Social on Tuesday, highlighting claims originally posted on X (formerly Twitter) that Elon Musk prevented manipulation of the 2024 U.S. presidential election by allegedly blocking computers belonging to Dominion Voting Systems in Serbia.

Trump, who lost the 2020 election to Democrat Joe Biden, has repeatedly alleged that Democrats attempted to steal the vote, claims that culminated in the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack.

The post Trump shared came from a verified supporter, Johnny St. Pete, who cited conservative commentator Benny Johnson. According to St. Pete, Musk monitored IP addresses in foreign countries to prevent election interference, including allegedly blocking computers in Serbia connected to Dominion. St. Pete credited Musk with safeguarding the 2024 election results.

St. Pete’s post also references Emerald Robinson, a former White House correspondent for outlets including Newsmax, who has since become known in the U.S. for promoting election conspiracy theories.

Another U.S. conspiracy theorist, Patrick M. Byrne, has previously claimed that votes were manipulated through foreign-controlled voting machines during the 2020 election. In 2021, Dominion filed a lawsuit against Byrne, stating that his blog posts alleging foreign interference in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Nevada, and Georgia were false. Byrne claimed electronic voting data had been sent abroad – including Germany, Spain, Serbia, and Canada – manipulated, and returned to the U.S. to alter election results.

Dominion Voting Systems has consistently rejected these claims, asserting that Byrne fabricated evidence and knowingly published false information to support his theories.
