Valmir Elezi, spokesperson for the Central Election Commission (CEC), clarified that ballots will not be counted on 31 December for the upcoming early parliamentary elections.
However, Elezi emphasized that all ballot boxes and election materials will be continuously secured by the Kosovo Police, ensuring their safety during the New Year holidays.
“There will be no ballot counting on New Year’s Eve. The schedule will be discussed closer to the election date. All materials and ballot boxes are monitored 24/7 at the Municipal Counting Centers by the Kosovo Police,” Elezi told KTV.
He also explained that the collection of ballot packages from EU countries will take place on 2 January or on subsequent working days, depending on the rules of each country.
This announcement comes as the CEC prepares for a transparent and secure ballot counting process, ensuring that all election procedures are properly monitored.
