The leader of Albania’s Democratic Party (DP), Sali Berisha, during his weekly address at the opposition platform known as the “Foltorja” in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, declared that the party is launching what he called its “final battle” for the victory of the opposition and the Albanian people.

“We are beginning our decisive struggle for the victory of the opposition and for the victory of Albanians,” Berisha stated.

Berisha harshly attacked Prime Minister Edi Rama, describing him as a corrupt and fearful leader. According to Berisha, theft is the vice that most erodes courage, arguing that Rama represents “the biggest coward Albania has ever seen in that position.”

He referred to the nightly police actions against civic protester Adriatik Lapaj, claiming that authorities repeatedly dismantle peaceful protest setups, including tents, chairs, and water supplies.

“Why does this happen?” Berisha asked. “Because he is the chief coward of the nation. The chief thief is also the chief coward of the nation.”

Berisha further claimed that Rama’s actions persist because citizens have allowed them to continue, warning that the situation will change once protesters fully mobilize.

“I give you my word of honor,” Berisha said, “that when we surround him in this square and swear not to leave until he is removed, he will run away.”

His statements are widely interpreted as a signal of escalation, raising concerns that the protest announced for December 22 could turn violent.
