President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, addressed the media alongside Prime Minister of the Bahamas, Philip Davis, following the Bahamas’ recognition of Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state. She expressed the deep gratitude of the people of Kosovo for this historic step.

Osmani emphasized that the recognition marks the beginning of a significant partnership and called the day a historic milestone for Kosovo.

“Mr. Prime Minister, allow me to begin by expressing the deep gratitude of the entire people of the Republic of Kosovo for this great honor you have given us, allowing us to come to your wonderful country, establish diplomatic relations, and receive recognition from you for the Republic of Kosovo as a sovereign and independent state. We are a nation that has endured much to reach this day. There have been so many sacrifices from one generation to another. Therefore, for us, this is a historic day — representing a people that have endured so much, coming to your wonderful country, receiving your understanding and support, signing diplomatic relations, and gaining recognition, which I believe is the start of a great partnership,” Osmani stated.

She further declared that Kosovo will always be a partner for the Bahamas and extended an invitation to Prime Minister Davis for an official visit to Kosovo, especially to mark the 18th anniversary of Kosovo’s independence.

“Please know that in the Republic of Kosovo, you will always have a friend, a partner, and an ally. Our people will always support you, in times of celebration and in times of difficulty. It would be an honor to welcome you to Kosovo for an official visit whenever possible, and particularly if you join us for our 18th independence anniversary as a sovereign and independent state,” she added.

Osmani concluded by saying she looks forward to further strengthening relations between the two countries, noting that the recognition will open many chapters of cooperation across various fields.

“Once again, thank you very much for this opportunity. Thank you for inviting us to the Bahamas, for recognizing Kosovo, and giving us the chance to sign diplomatic relations with your country, which I believe will open many chapters of cooperation in many fields. We look forward to strengthening this excellent relationship between our two nations,” she said.
