While six polling centers in Kosovo are experiencing electricity issues, the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK) has confirmed that it is on maximum alert, with all capacities deployed to ensure energy security.

In a statement to the media, KEK highlighted that with the drop in temperatures since December 19, 2025, it has increased operational engagement to the maximum, currently operating with five (5) generating units.

“As a result, daily production reaches 20,640 MWh, strengthening the stability of electricity supply and the resilience of Kosovo’s power system during a period of increased demand. Under normal conditions, KEK operates with four generating units, keeping one as a hot reserve for technical needs and periodic maintenance. Despite the advanced age of the facilities, thanks to the exceptional dedication of technical staff and management commitment, operation with five units has been made possible, with only two brief technical interruptions on one unit,” KEK said.

KEK emphasized that it remains committed to operating as many production capacities as possible, within the limits of technical safety and operational stability, to guarantee sustainable electricity production.

The corporation also called on citizens to use electricity rationally, particularly during this period of high consumption, stressing that energy security requires joint responsibility.
