Protesters clashed with federal law enforcement officers in Minneapolis following the fatal shooting of a woman by an ICE agent yesterday.

The woman, identified as 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, was shot after authorities claim she attempted to run over an officer. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem defended the agent, stating the shooting was an act of self-defense.

However, state and local officials have challenged this account, disputing that the incident was justified.

Thousands gathered at the scene of the shooting on the night of January 7 (local time) to commemorate Renee Nicole Good. Due to safety concerns, several schools in the city will remain closed for the rest of the week.

Federal officers, including special response teams from the U.S. Border Patrol, were deployed and lined up outside the Bishop Henry Whipple Federal Building in St. Paul, Minnesota, attempting to move protesters off the street.

Protesters, some confronting officers directly, chanted slogans labeling the officers as “Nazis” and “murderers.” All entrances to the federal building were cleared of protesters.
