Turkey has warned that any foreign intervention in neighboring Iran could escalate crises both within the country and across the region, urging negotiations between the United States and Iran to resolve existing tensions.

The announcement comes amid Iran’s largest protests since 2022, with US President Donald Trump threatening intervention if force is used against demonstrators.

Omer Celik, spokesperson for Turkey’s ruling AK Party, emphasized that while Iran faces “certain internal societal and governmental challenges,” chaos in the country must be avoided.

“As Iranian President Pezeshkian has stated, these issues must be resolved through Iran’s internal societal dynamics and national will,” Celik said at a press conference following a party meeting.

He further warned that foreign intervention could lead to even worse consequences, highlighting that actions provoked by Israel in particular could spark larger regional crises.

Turkey, a NATO member, has called for restraint and diplomatic solutions, stressing that external interference risks exacerbating instability in an already tense situation.
